Shaping Lives Update

Dear friends

Warm Summer Greetings!

The Indian summer was scorching and particularly severe this year. Notwithstanding, as Shaping Lives entered its third year on 01 Jun, one felt satisfied that inroads into facilitating CSR for our inbound tourists had made good progress and the visits through our Travel Foundation were increasing gradually. While celebrating the successful 10 years of our group company Le Passage to India, Shaping Lives look forward to great social steps in the near future.

This quarter also turned quite eventfull for all of us, as we saw great volunteer participation by many of our guests, who went back with smiling memories of the time spent at our partner NGOs. I take this opportunity to thank all our travel partners for the support given to Shaping Lives in its growth. I also look forward to you encouraging planned social signatures through this unique initiative of Shaping Lives acting as the ‘bridge’ between the traveler and reliable Indian NGOs.

Do write in to us with your views and thoughts, we love to hear from you.

Have an incredible summer!

Most Warmly

Summer of 2012

Summer is a lean period with higher concentration on ‘fams’ then on clients. Shaping Lives had its fair share of both as the summers scorched in right earnest …..perhaps the worst summer since 1880 across the world or so they say.

April

It commenced with those lovable, warm hearted people who come in groups from the cold climes of Iceland. We indulged in two firsts with our NGOs with these visitors. The visit to our affiliates in Agra and Mumbai went off to their entire satisfaction and it will hopefully be a start point for many more. The Germans touched lives at Akshar Society in Jaipur later on in the month, whilst our Japanese guests were given a tour of Project Arman. Shaping Lives also felicitated our key NGO partner Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group for their ‘US Innovation Award’.

May

Overseas friends and travel partners visited various NGOs to assess potential social interventions. They went away happy with the promises of engaging and motivating groups towards them.

The rest of May was utilized in consolidation and preparations of various ‘volunteer programs’ as feeds for our travel partners. We are sanguine that these programs will be utilized in the season 2012-13 as the exercise was initiated to customize them based on inputs from our partners.

June

Shaping Lives completed two years on 01 Jun 2012. It was apparent that the organization had made suitable contribution to its goals and vision. We decided to club the World Environment day and this time our focus on creating awareness about e-waste once again turned out to be a unique experience for all who visited our ‘awareness desk’.

Internally, Shaping Lives took the step to enlarge its employee beneficiary base by increasing the upper salary limit for eligibility to the monthly Education Grant for up to two children to INR 20000. It would double the children who would benefit from this internal welfare measure of the Foundation with effect from this financial year.

Details of events and more are available on our website pages. We look forward to you leaving worthwhile and memorable social signatures during your Indian holidays courtesy Shaping Lives. Come! Join hands with us and ‘spread smiles’ even as you smile yourself.
